Franklin Scott Carto “Scott”, 68, of Covington, KY passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Scott was a unique man to say the least. He was a world traveler, an avid reader, and very knowledgeable when it came to antiques. Scott was a rare books dealer, but he also bought and sold paintings and all other sorts of antiques. He was smart and athletic, and enjoyed running and playing sports. As a young man he left home to travel the country, hitchhiking and camping out, worrying his mother so much that she ran multiple ads in the New York Times asking him to come home. Scott was a true adventurer, wherever he laid his hat was his home. He loved to read and learn, especially when it came to antiques, and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his sister: Jeannine Van Der Veer, and his parents: Franklin and Molly Carto. Scott is survived by his daughter: Olivia Carto of Wales, his brother: Gregory Van Der Veer Lighthouse Point, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held for Scott on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 7 Court Pl, Newport, KY 41071.
