John “Jack” William Koop, 93, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2019. He was born in Covington, KY on January 10, 1926 to the late Henry “Harry” B. Koop and Barbara Rose Kammerer Koop. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a Butcher at Serv-All Foods, Lookout House and Glier’s Meats. Jack was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and enjoyed walking, watching The Big Red Machine, arguing about the Bengals with his grandchildren, playing lawn-jarts, grilling and he was an avid bird watcher. He selflessly donated his body to the UC Medical Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 58 years: Laverne Borg Koop; brothers: Henry, Elmer and Paul and sister: Marcella “Sis.” Jack is survived by his children: Barbara (Tito) Castillo, Marilynn (Phil) Ritter, Jacquelyn Hanser, Gerard (Jodie) Koop, Marie (Tom) Tobler, MarySue (Mike) Drysdale, Therese (Turner) Cloar, Nancy (Dave) Pinney, and finally Angela “Gee” (George “Bo”) Cleveland; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The family will be accepting visitors from 10:00 A.M. until the Celebration of Life Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Henry Church, 3813 Dixie Highway, Elsmere, KY 41018. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations are suggested to the Susan Wolff Scholarship Fund C/O St. Henry District High School, 3755 Scheben Drive, Erlanger, KY 41018 or a charity of the Donor’s choice.
